
Using CAN’s ultrasound assisted extraction (UAEx) as a process intensifier and one or more leaching stages, the method produces light and heavy commercial rare earths concentrates.
The business anticipates that generating these concentrates will require much less capital and operating expenditures because to the use of UAEx technology. The findings show that commercial concentrations with grades as high as 46.9% neodymium, 14% praseodymium, 16.1% dysprosium, and 3.4% terbium may be generated by utilizing this exclusive metallurgical process of acid leach enhanced by both ultrasonic and calcination at different stages.
UAEx is acknowledged as a more ecologically sustainable option for processing than traditional methods. Recovery times are shortened in addition to being enhanced.
Samples from the Mynastyc project in Vichada, Colombia, by Auxico Resources Canada were used in CAN’s studies. Together with technology partners Impact Global Solutions, Coalia, Polytechnique Montréal, and McGill University, both companies have conducted scoping studies for the development of processing and refining facilities with the goal of transforming critical minerals into end-user forms for the EV battery and powertrain components manufacturing supply industry.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a patent application for the identical technology has been submitted.
