Laurion Mineral Exploration Targets Key Gold Structures at Ishkoday
Laurion Mineral Exploration Inc. [TSXV: LME; OTC PINK: LMEFF] has announced its highly anticipated fall 2024 drilling program at the Ishkoday project, located 220 km northeast of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The program is set to begin in mid-October, led by Forage GeoNord of Dolbeau-Mistassini, Quebec. Laurion will focus on expanding high-grade gold zones within the historic Sturgeon River mine area, targeting key structures such as the Sturgeon River Mine West (SRMW) and several high-potential quartz vein systems.
Field Program to Focus on Sturgeon River Mine West and High-Grade Quartz Veins
The Sturgeon River mine corridor hosts at least 12 identified gold-bearing veins, and Laurion’s fall 2024 program will aim to test extensions of these veins. Cynthia Le Sueur-Aquin, Laurion’s president and CEO, stated, “We are excited to build on previous successes and focus on areas known for high-grade gold. Our campaign will target veins that have already shown significant promise, especially in the SRMW and the quartz vein systems M21, M24, M25, M6, and M50.”
The known vein system within the Sturgeon River mine area spans 900 metres in length and 580 metres in width, with several veins still open at depth and along strike, offering potential for further resource expansion.

Notable 2024 Sampling Results Highlight Strong Exploration Potential
Laurion’s 2024 exploration results have shown excellent grades, further validating the significant potential of the Ishkoday project. Highlights include West SRM grab samples returning 73.20 g/t gold, 61.50 g/t gold, and 53.90 g/t gold, and 85A channel samples showing 24.9 g/t gold over 0.65 metre. Meanwhile, the M24 quartz vein also delivered high-grade results, including 16.35 g/t gold over 0.55 metre. These encouraging results suggest that the upcoming drill program could uncover even more significant mineralization.
Laurion’s Commitment to Expanding Resources at Ishkoday Project
Laurion Mineral Exploration remains dedicated to advancing its flagship Ishkoday project, a 100%-owned property spanning 57 km². With a focus on gold-rich polymetallic mineralization, Laurion’s fall 2024 drill program will be a key step toward further resource definition and expanding the company’s resource base. The company is confident that the high-grade nature of the Ishkoday project will continue to be demonstrated as drilling progresses.
