Denmark and Iran Join Forces to Revolutionize Tin Mining via Geological Innovation
Denmark’s Ambassador Jesper Vahr and Iran’s Geological Survey chief Alireza Shahidi have pledged to strengthen tin mining collaboration. Their focus lies in leveraging cutting-edge geological research alongside mineral exploration techniques to increase both mining efficiency and scientific insight across their regions.
Jesper Vahr champions Denmark’s commitment to boosting mining cooperation with Iran, aiming at advancing geological sciences. Recent negotiations with Alireza Shahidi, who leads Iran’s Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration (GSI), introduced expansions in joint research efforts and innovation projects.
Iran’s Geological Survey Pioneers West Asia Mapping and Mining Technology Development
Alireza Shahidi detailed how Iran’s GSI spearheads major geological initiatives, including West Asia’s geological mapping in partnership with UNESCO. These comprehensive projects utilize tectonic and Quaternary data to build a robust foundation for mineral exploration and scientific exchange.
Beyond mining, GSI invests in karst water system research and provides vital local training in aerial geophysics, an area where Canadian tech expertise plays a significant role in Iran’s mining development.
State-of-the-Art Labs and European Training Programs Boost Iran’s Mineral Exploration Capacity
GSI’s advanced chemical labs allow high-precision mineral analysis that supports current exploration projects. Its strong collaboration with European universities from Italy, France, Germany, and the UK enhances technical training and mining research capabilities.
In 2020, GSI partnered with the Sorbonne University in France to develop innovative 3D geological maps. Workshops involving geoscientists from Iran and Europe have fostered knowledge sharing, continuing virtually during the pandemic to sustain collaboration.
