
Central to the partnership is the construction of a state-of-the-art processing facility near Kalgoorlie and the implementation of Altilium’s DNi ProcessTM. The technology has been engineered to sustainably extract nickel from laterite ores.
Positioned as the main terminal for laterite nickel, the proposed processing plant will embody the success of Queensland Pacific Metals and utilize the same innovative technologies. The aim is to produce 16,000 tonnes of nickel in the form of mixed hydroxide products (MHP), with the core long-term aim being to produce nickel and cobalt to supply the electric vehicle and battery markets, with the aim of entering production by 2030.
The parties’ commitment to complete a comprehensive pre-feasibility study within the next 24 months further demonstrates the strategic importance of this collaboration.
The agreement also gives NGM exclusive rights to develop Altilium technology within a 100km radius of Kalgoorlie, where the miner already has access to a 36 million tonne nickel resource and has ambitious future expansion plans.
Altilium’s DNi process is known for its groundbreaking zero-waste mineral extraction method. This environmentally friendly approach eliminates the dangers associated with wet tailings, retaining dams and ocean dumping.
