Q2 Metals has delivered the first NI 43-101 Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate for its Cisco Lithium Project in Quebec, putting a large new number on the table at a time when North American lithium supply is drawing renewed scrutiny from automakers, battery developers, utilities, and AI-linked energy planners.
The headline figure is substantial: 295 million tonnes grading 1.36% Li2O in the inaugural inferred resource. For Quebec, that adds another meaningful lithium datapoint in a province already building momentum as one of the more important hard-rock battery materials jurisdictions in North America.
Cisco’s scale matters, but so does its location. The project sits in the James Bay region with access advantages that stand out in a market where remote infrastructure can make or break development timelines. Q2 Metals has highlighted the Billy Diamond Highway as a key logistical benefit, giving the project a clearer path to site access, movement of people and equipment, and a better starting point than many early-stage northern assets.
A large first resource in a strategic district
An inaugural resource of 295Mt at 1.36% Li2O puts Cisco into the conversation as one of the larger lithium resource stories in Quebec’s exploration pipeline. At a basic level, the market tends to look for two things in early lithium projects: enough tonnage to support long mine life potential, and grade strong enough to suggest future economic relevance if metallurgy, mining conditions, and permitting line up. Cisco now has a first-pass resource that gives investors and industry watchers something concrete to measure.
That does not mean the project is de-risked. As with any inferred resource, there is still substantial work ahead around drilling density, conversion to higher-confidence categories, metallurgical test work, engineering, environmental studies, permitting, and future development economics. But the estimate changes the discussion from geological potential to an actual mineral inventory reported under NI 43-101 standards.
Why infrastructure matters more than headline tonnes

As data centers, grid storage systems, and electrification infrastructure expand, the competition for battery materials is no longer tied only to passenger EV demand. Lithium is increasingly part of a broader power resilience and energy transition conversation that includes backup power systems, storage deployment, transmission support, and industrial electrification.
For policymakers, that makes domestic and allied lithium supply more relevant. For developers, it means larger addressable demand narratives. For Quebec, it reinforces the province’s pitch as a serious supplier of critical minerals tied to both industrial policy and energy security.

The new resource does not settle the final value of the project, but it does raise Cisco’s profile. It gives Q2 Metals a firmer base for follow-up drilling, technical studies, and market positioning. It also strengthens the argument that Quebec’s lithium corridor is still producing material-scale discoveries and resource updates that deserve attention.
For the broader sector, Cisco is another reminder that jurisdiction quality and logistics are becoming almost as important as grade and size. In an environment where downstream buyers want visibility, optionality, and politically lower-risk supply, projects with both scale and access are likely to remain in focus.
