Most mining investors are currently hypnotized by the "green" revolution, chasing copper and lithium as if they were the only variables in the industrial equation. They are missing the metal that actually keeps the lights on: and the missiles flying.
Antimony. It isn’t flashy. It doesn’t have the PR budget of a tech-heavy lithium play. But right now, it is the most dangerous bottleneck in the Western world’s supply chain.
The strategic calculus here isn't subtle: if you don’t have antimony, your defense industry grinds to a halt, your semiconductor manufacturing hits a wall, and your renewable energy storage plans remain sketches on a whiteboard. For decades, the West outsourced this problem to China, Russia, and Tajikistan. That era ended in September 2024 when Beijing pulled the plug.
Now, in March 2026, we are looking at the fallout. And more importantly, we are looking at the solution emerging in New Brunswick. Antimony Resources (ATMY) and their Bald Hill discovery aren't just a win for the province; they are a strategic landmark for 2026.
The China Chokehold is a Reality
When China implemented strict export controls on antimony in late 2024, it wasn't a policy suggestion. It was a severance. We’ve seen this playbook before with gallium and germanium, where supply vanished overnight, leaving Western manufacturers scrambling for scraps.
Antimony is worse. It is a "war metal." It’s used to harden lead in bullets, it’s essential for ammunition primers, and it’s a key component in infrared sensors and flares. Without it, the U.S. and its allies are effectively disarmed over the long term. China knows this. Russia knows this.
The Western supply deficit isn’t just a gap; it’s a canyon. Tajikistan currently fills some of the void, but relying on a Russian-aligned state for critical defense minerals is a gamble that no serious policymaker should be willing to take. This is why the geopolitical surge into critical minerals is no longer a luxury: it’s an existential requirement.

Bald Hill: The Numbers Don't Lie
In the mining world, we talk about "world-class" so often the phrase has lost its teeth. But then you look at the assay results coming out of Antimony Resources’ Bald Hill project.
The main zone at Bald Hill is currently modeling at an estimated 2.7 million tonnes, grading between 3% and 4% antimony.
Let that sink in. 3-4%.
Global benchmarks for antimony deposits often hover around the 1% mark. Anything over 2.5% is considered exceptional. To find a multi-million-tonne deposit at these grades in a Tier-1 jurisdiction like New Brunswick is almost unheard of. CEO James Atkinson didn't mince words when he called it the highest-grade antimony deposit in North America. He’s likely right. It might be one of the highest-grade deposits left on the planet.

The 10,000-Metre Truth Machine
Geology is one thing; definition is another. You can't build a mine on a "feeling" or a few lucky drill holes. That’s why the 2026 program at Bald Hill is so critical. Antimony Resources has launched a 10,000-metre definition drilling program designed to turn high-grade "potential" into a maiden resource estimate.
The goal is clear: establish the drill density needed to prove up 80,000 to 108,000 tonnes of contained metal by the end of this year or early 2027.
But here is where it gets interesting. The mineralization isn’t just a fluke pocket of high-grade rock. The strike length currently exceeds 700 metres and goes down to at least 400 metres in depth. More importantly, the system is open in all directions.
And then there are the neighbors. Recent fieldwork has uncovered the Bald Hill South and Marcus Zones. These aren't just side projects; they suggest a massive mineralizing system that we are only beginning to map. If the Marcus Zone mirrors the grades of the main deposit, the scale of this project shifts from "strategic" to "dominant."

Why New Brunswick? Why Now?
Location in mining is everything, and New Brunswick is currently the place to be for critical minerals. Unlike frontier risks in West Africa or the bureaucratic nightmares of certain South American jurisdictions, New Brunswick has the infrastructure, the workforce, and a government that understands the urgency of the moment.
As we noted in our March 16 intelligence briefing, the critical minerals corridor is expanding. Bald Hill sits right in the middle of a region that can actually get things built.
The timing is equally vital. 2026 marks the inflection point where the stockpiles of antimony acquired before the 2024 controls are beginning to run dry. Defense contractors are looking at their 2027 and 2028 procurement calendars with a sense of quiet desperation. They need a domestic source. They need Bald Hill.
The Semiconductor and Energy Nexus
While defense gets the headlines, the civilian applications for antimony are just as critical. The "shiny AI revolution" everyone loves to talk about relies on high-end semiconductors. Antimony is a dopant in the production of these chips.
Furthermore, as we push toward the global battery revolution, liquid metal batteries: which use antimony-magnesium alloys: are emerging as the holy grail for grid-scale energy storage. They are cheaper, longer-lasting, and safer than lithium-ion for stationary use.
There’s a grim irony here: the green transition is being throttled by a shortage of the very minerals needed to build the hardware. You can’t disrupt geology. You have to find it, drill it, and mine it.
The 2026 Strategic Landmark
The strategic calculus isn't just about the metal; it's about the timeline. The market is finally waking up to the fact that you cannot conjure a mine out of thin air in six months.
Antimony Resources is moving at a pace that suggests they understand the ticking clock. By targeting a maiden resource estimate for late 2026, they are positioning Bald Hill as the primary answer to the Western supply vacuum.
If they hit their marks, Bald Hill won't just be a mine; it will be a piece of national infrastructure. It will be the "Apex" of the antimony market in North America.

The Bottom Line
The era of cheap, reliable mineral imports from adversarial nations is dead. The "chickens-coming-home-to-roost" moment for antimony has arrived, and the numbers coming out of New Brunswick are the only thing standing between the West and a complete supply-chain collapse.
Bald Hill’s 3-4% grades are not a typo. They are a lifeline. 10,000 metres of drilling will tell us exactly how thick that lifeline is. But given the strike lengths and the expansion zones at Bald Hill South, the outcome seems less like a question and more like an inevitability.
